Dragon Age: Origins: OH MY FRIKKIN GAWD! What an amazing fucking game!

I've been wanting this game ever since Gameinformer did a spread on it back in 2008, and since it was released last month, my mom bought it for me for Christmas and OH MY FRIKKIN GAWD! It's one of the best games I've ever played. Not only is the storyline chosen/influenced by your decisions, the overall plot/subplots are so original and engaging that it makes writer's like me weep in happiness!

Dragon Age: Origins is made by Bioware; a company known for allowing romance subplots and sex scenes, and trust me, there is no shortage of them. You can have sex with several different main characters; depending on your gender or if the character is bisexual. (Zevran and Lelianna *coughs*)

I played as a female Human Noble, so I dated the hetero Alistair. He's like every little girl's dream; an innocent, hilarious and adorably sweet knight. Since he's a Templar, he's religious, believes in justice, but above all.. IS A VIRGIN! (Not for long though... )

Zevran has to be my second favorite character. Since he's an Assassin, he's more dark-humored, playful and lusty. The best part is that he goes either way; your gender doesn't affect dating him. (Shame on him for checking out Wynne's "bosom", she's a grandmother!) He's easy to sleep with, unlike Alistair, but it's so hard to win his heart! Say one wrong thing and you lose your chance to make him fall in love with you!

Review on Dragon Age: Origins

Music: The soundtrack has simple instrumental/folk music, along with epic orchestral themes for battles and operatic singing throughout. Very beautiful. 10/10

Battle System: Can be a little confusing at first if you're new to real-time RPG. You can take control of any party member at any point during battle, and set up "Tactics" that the other computer-controlled characters will follow when not in your control. You can pause mid-battle to issue commands, and swiftly switch control of who's in charge. Battles can sometimes lag due to multiple enemies/spells on screen, but very rarely. 9/10

Plot: One of the best parts of this game is that even though it has an overall story that is amazing and original in itself, you have huge impact on what happens due to your decisions, however minor. Each chapter in the game leaves the fate of villages, cities, other characters, and pretty much the world in your hands. Some decisions can be difficult to make, and you're held responsible for the consequences. 10/10

Sidequests/Subplots: Depending on your character/actions, different sidequests may emerge that will benefit you. There are several sidequests in each city that can require hours of work to complete, but vary depending on the quest. "Romancing" characters is optional, but if you choose to, it can create subplots that can grant bonuses to the characters. Unlike other games, however, you must work to establish the relationship. You must give them gifts, make decisions they approve of, and have meaningful conversations with them on a regular basis. It takes time and effort, much like a real relationship. Depending on the character you are romancing, a point can be reached where you can become intimate. 10/10

Graphics: Released on PS3/360/PC, Dragon Age: Origins was designed mostly for the PC, so the graphics tend to lack for the PS3/360. The character models/armor designs look a little bland/flat and 2006-ish, which can be disappointing for some. 8/10

Character Origins/Customization: You can pick from different Origins such as: human noble, Magi (human/elf), Dalish elf, city elf, dwarf noble or dwarf commoner. These Origins highly reflect how the world see's and reacts to you. Warrior, Rogue, and Mage are the classes you can pick from. Warriors can take/dish out heavy damage, but are susceptible to magic. Rogues are more crafty, dealing damage with sneak attacks/critical backstabs, as well as being great archers. Mages are highly skilled in the Arcane/Healing arts, but have low health. There are several specializations dealing with each battle class, such as Berserker/Reaver/Templar/Champion for Warriors, Assassin/Duelist/Ranger/Bard for Rogues, and Arcane Warrior/Shapeshifter/Blood Mage/Spirit Healer for Mages. With a balance of characters in a party, they can be formidable. There is no shortage of complete customization and control of your created character. 10/10

Overall: 9.5/10

If you're into RPG's, this is one you cannot skip.

ARCHAIC

I haven't had time to write a proper introduction to this story, but I will update with one soon.

This story is basically about a group of teenage students who have been drafted into a military institute called the Archay Academy. It trains it's students to be Arcadian pilots and be shipped off to war after they graduate four years. It mainly follows Milo, a humble orphan who seeks revenge on a rival kingdom after his hometown is destroyed by an enemy tactical invasion. Although the Archay Academy is praised for dishing out the best pilots, having high-ranking trainers, scientists, and doctors, the Archay is not all it seems as Milo begins to unravel deadly secrets behind the much feared, mechanical Requiems.
